The Strip Club 104, a steakhouse in historic downtown Greer, has announced it will eliminate single-use plastic straws from its establishment.
“We have to start somewhere, with a goal of eliminating all plastic disposable products from our establishment and replacing with bio degradable equivalents, like hay straws,” said TSC 104 owner, Jason Clark. “Plus they look cool.”
The change comes at a time in the industry where many industry giants are eliminating plastic straws to tackle the material waste challenge globally. Nicholas Mallos, director of Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas program, recently estimated that eight million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean every year, and ever effort counts.
Customers will see this change implemented immediately in the restaurant, with hay straws available by request as an alternative for customers who prefer or need a straw.
