small business expansion in downtown greer

The Chocolate Toad Expands In Downtown Greer

While the expansion of The Chocolate Toad is a new adventure, the move is a bit of a homecoming for owner Sheila Springfield. The new location for The Chocolate Toad is the former Lunch & Such location, a restaurant Mrs. Springfield owned 14 years ago.

“Having established the Chocolate Toad name and having previously owned Lunch & Such in this location, this seemed like a natural move, like coming back home,” said Mrs. Springfield. “I’m excited to be back in this location and to be growing The Chocolate Toad. We had reached our production limit in our previous space and I was ready to take the next step.”

The Chocolate Toad, which started as a bakery, has added a bistro component as part of the expansion, offering brunch, sandwiches, salads, and tapas along with a selection of loose leaf teas from Charleston, SC. Since their soft opening, the “Everything” BLT seems to have become the house special, a combination of three sandwiches in one with pimento cheese, egg salad, and a BLT with caramelized bacon. The bakery and bistro will be open 10:00 am to 5:30 pm Tuesday through Friday and from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm on Saturday. The Chocolate Toad is also available for caterings and custom bakery orders.

The Chocolate Toad’s new location is in the back of Chelsea’s Ladies Apparel and Accessories at 224 Trade Street. Join them Tuesday, July 14 for their grand opening and Dining Out for Hospice day to benefit Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
