Scott and Lindsay Stevens, owners of 230 Trade Street in Greer Station, have been nominated for the 2008 Greater Greenville Association of REALTORS (GGAR) Revitalization Award. The Steven’s property was selected in the multi-use/mixed-use category.
Five years ago the Stevens’ looked throughout the Upstate for property to renovate as a home for their business and family. They were looking for a historic building that would serve both purposes. According to Scott Stevens, Hip and Historic downtown Greer was a natural fit. “230 Trade Street fit all of our criteria, and was a great purchase for us,” he stated. “Additionally the Greer community was very welcoming and progressive toward attracting businesses into the Historic Downtown area.”
Scott and Lindsay renovated the first floor of 230 Trade Street as a banquet hall. Events at the Davenport, as it is now know, is home to over 100 events each year. The second floor is in the final stages of a two unit renovation as a loft apartment for the Stevens’ and an office for YourMark.com, Inc.
The Revitalization Committee is composed of REALTORS and affiliated members, and the staff of the Greater Greenville Association of REALTORS. The panel of judges consists of Revitalization winners from previous years and local business owners.
The committee and judges were in Greer on July 14, 2008 to personally view the property; approximately 15 people participated in the tour.
The Revitalization Awards will be presented on September 11, 2008 during the GGAR Luncheon. “Lindsay and I are very honored and hope that the nomination will further draw attention to the growth of Downtown Greer,” stated Scott Stevens.
