A popular brewery once in downtown Greenville for 20 years is now serving as a link to growth in a smaller city.
The well-known Blue Ridge Brewing Company opened just over a week ago in downtown Greer.
General manager, Cameron Farr said, they moved late last year for more space and the opportunity to distribute their own beer.
“Everybody seems super excited to have us here and we’re really excited to be a part of it and want to help Greer grow,” Farr said.
The new location on Trade Street will be in the middle of growth and development, according to Kyle Mensing, commercial development director for the city of Greer.
The restaurant is at the end of a row of businesses on Trade Street but Mensing said the city anticipates that the location will be a link between an arts district that is already in the works.
“So it’s really going to start connecting arts and culture, the various strong neighborhood community we have on Trade Street, and the businesses and restaurants we have down here,” Mensing said.
The city is looking to create a young and vibrant atmosphere with a variety of businesses, according to Mensing.
He said Blue Ridge Brewing will play a major role in bringing in that kind of foot traffic.
