With a major downtown streetscape project on its way this summer, the City of Greer is expanding Greenville County Redevelopment Authority (GCRA)’s Façade Improvement Program (FIP) by offering matching funds.
Businesses that qualify for GCRA’s Façade Improvement Program receive up to $5,000 per business. The City of Greer will match the GCRA award up to an additional $5,000. For qualifying projects that exceed $10,000, the City will match additional investment in façade improvements dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000.
“Because businesses will continue to operate during construction, the city is implementing strategies to help minimize inconvenience to merchants and customers and to help spread the news that Greer Station is open for business,” said Mike Sell, assistant city administrator.
Grant money will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to submit grant requests is June 30, 2018. All grant funds are provided on a reimbursement basis. The minimum request is $1,000 and any expenses incurred before approval of the grant request are not reimbursable. Projects must be eligible for the program and must meet the City of Greer’s downtown design standards.
On February 7 the City of Greer, in coordination with Greer Development Corporation, hosted a breakfast workshop to inform downtown merchants and property owners of the funds available to them, walk them through the application process and answer any initial questions they may have. More than 40 merchants and property owners were in attendance, representing over 28 businesses and properties.
For any eligible businesses that missed the workshop and are interested in applying, please see the contacts and applications below:
