The Greer Commission of Public Works (Electric, Water, Wastewater, and Natural Gas) and Duke Energy (Electric) provide utility services in Greer. Disciplined investment in new infrastructure by these organizations over the years has provided Greer with significant excess capacity. Today, Greer can accommodate new users with needs of 1 million gallons of water per day and with a permitted capacity of five million gallons per day, Greer’s Maple Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant has excess capacity of 1.4 million gallons per day. Greer scores high for electric reliability, with most industrial sites within one mile of at least one substation, and Greer’s nexus of natural gas infrastructure includes infrastructure throughout the Greer community.
