Existing businesses are the life-blood of the Greer community. Though not often featured in the latest news headlines, it is the commitment that Greer’s existing businesses have made in investing in the community, hiring new employees, weathering the tough times, and expanding when the opportunity is right, that has had perhaps the greatest impact on the success and good fortune of Greer.
GDC staff and volunteers make over 100 calls on existing businesses and industries each year to assess overall business conditions, to identify and to eliminate challenges, to help to mitigate costs, and to facilitate expansions. Many businesses in Greer, large and small, are not taking full advantage of state funded programs and tax credits that help with screening, hiring, and training new and existing employees. Still others could be more efficient and effective by more clearly communicating their needs and plans to local planning agencies and utilities. The Greer Development Corporation is uniquely positioned to help these businesses and industries to navigate the programs and opportunities that are available to mitigate costs and to simplify decision-making.
