A new bridal boutique opening in downtown Greer is a dream come true for a mother-daughter duo.
Real estate attorney Kasey Fowler and her mother Kristy Fowler are co-owners of the newest franchise of Fabulous Frocks.
“My mom is my best friend,” said Kasey Fowler. “To be able to have a business with her is truly a gift.”
“I couldn’t imagine anything better than to have a business with my daughter doing something we love and spending time together,” said Kristy Fowler.
Her younger daughter, Kasey’s sister, is Miss Greenville County Teen and 1st Runner-up for Miss SC Teen. Abigail Kate Fowler is going to serve as a model and stylist for the family business.
Kristy Fowler said she is thrilled. “It’s been amazing to see our vision come to life,” she said.
The Fowlers’ shop at 228 Trade Street is right next door to The Davenport event venue, which frequently hosts weddings, rehearsals, and receptions. Kasey Fowler and her mother have talked about opening a boutique together for a long time. Kasey said she always knew it had to be on Trade Street.
“Downtown Greer was a no-brainer for me. I’m from Greer, and I believe in it,” Kasey said. “It’s almost like a Hallmark movie.”
The Fowlers designed their showroom with hanging crystal chandeliers, seven-foot Anthropolgie mirrors, and gold industrial racks. In true small business owner style, Kasey’s spare bedroom housed their inventory of wedding gowns while they got their space ready to open.
Fabulous Frocks sells curated collections of “Ready-to-Wed” and “Made-to-Order” dresses. According to Fowler, a bride can try on a gown, fall in love with it, and take it home the same day instead of waiting several months. Kasey Fowler said, “Our mission is to make all of our brides feel confident and beautiful on their wedding day.”
Kasey Fowler said she fell in love with the Fabulous Frocks business model after the COVID-19 pandemic hit. She said several of her friends were getting married during that time, and their gowns were not shipping because of COVID. Many of them had to drive to Atlanta or Charlotte in order to have a dress in time for their wedding.
“I’m selling all of these gowns right off the rack, so whatever gown that they try on and the bride falls in love with, that’s what they walk out with the same day, which I think is a really great concept,” Kasey said.
The Fowlers are already dreaming of ways they can partner with other wedding-related businesses in the area to make it even more convenient for couples to plan a wedding here. Kasey says they’ve already experienced an outpouring of support from the Greer community.
“The upcoming opening of Fabulous Frocks is a wonderful addition to the businesses in Greer that offer wedding planning services and venues,” said Greer Mayor Rick Danner. “The City thanks Fabulous Frocks for their commitment to downtown Greer and wishes them much success.”
Fabulous Frocks in downtown Greer is already taking appointments.
They’ve scheduled their first bride before Christmas.
“We’re so excited to be a small part of their big day,” Kasey Fowler said.
Fabulous Frocks has locations in Charlotte, Nashville, Kansas City, and Shreveport.
